3 Simple Steps to Discover Your Talents and Passions

3 simple steps to discover your talents and passions

Tell me, can you answer this question?

What Are You Really Really Ridiculously Good At?

It's a fabulous question, right? But sometimes way easier said (especially if you’re Derek Zoolander) than answered!

Because knowing what our unique gifts and passions are, is not always obvious to the one person that really needs to know....ourselves.

Discover Your Life Purpose in 3 Simple Steps >> limited time FREE masterclass!

Seems like a bit of a twisted joke doesn't it, but like all things in life, there's method in the madness. Sometimes we need to have certain life experiences to equip us to be able to share our gifts fully and once we have amassed them, we will get a knock on the door.

Not a literal knock (although I wish it came as easy as that), usually it comes in the form of discomfort, it might be feeling stuck and unfulfilled or it might be more dramatic, like the loss of a job, a loved one, the end of a relationship, an accident etc.

For many of us though it will manifest as a persistent nagging for something more, something else, a longing for fulfilment.

This longing, is the call to your calling (see what I did there). It's the Universe letting you know it's time to take heed and step into your true self, step into alignment and bring your personal purpose to life.

There are three simple steps that will begin you on the right path to discovering your talents and passions aka what you’re really really ridiculously good at, and they go like this:

1. Self Discovery:

Grab yourself a journal and devote it to this pursuit of realising your passions. Download my free quick start guide to discover What Are You Really Really Ridiculously Good At? Give yourself space to breathe, relax and reflect, working through the questions in the guide ONE AT A TIME. As Tim Ferris puts it, good questions in the wrong order get bad responses.

2. Connect to Your Feelings:

Begin a daily meditation practice, even if it's just five minutes a day. If you're not in to meditating that's fine, start by just focusing on your breath, ask your higher self for guidance, chill out and breathe and make note of anything that comes to mind thereafter (no matter how small, insignificant or even irrelevant it might seem at the time). Write it all down.

3. Ask Your Nearest & Dearest:

There's a lot to be said for perspective, sometimes when you're inside the bottle looking out you can't see the bottle, meaning, often we're unaware of our own treasure because we're the subject. So the same questions in my What Are You Really Really Ridiculously Good At?  guide should be shared with a few of your nearest and dearest to answer them for you also. Ask a parent, sibling, close friends, partner. Get as many perspectives as you can.

Spend time with the answers and see what feels the most joyful to you and soon enough those answers to your unique talents and passions will be staring back at you, over and over again. Look for the repetition and similarities shining through.

When we are living from the place where we're doing, being and living what we love, their is a spark that ignites, a flow that is almost beyond us.

This spark or flow comes about when we're in total alignment with our highest selves..and our highest selves is where our personal purpose resides. The space where our passions and talents are shared, and connect us to joy.

Sounds amazing right? Well it is. And the good news is that every single human being has the capacity for this kind of fulfilment.

Because every single human is born with a personal purpose, it's the 'work' you're born for, it's the place where your sense of deeper meaning manifests into expression and lights the way for others at the same time.

We're expansive beings, from the time we're conceived, we're growing, our hearts are a pumping life force, driving us to grow and thrive and expand. It's an ongoing process, right up until we leave this lifetime for  as the wise  Carl Gustav Jung said;

The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.
